But I’m not surprised. She was way under utilized. Give her the ball 10-15 feet from the basket, clear out, and she’s nearly unguardable. She got 2 fouls on iriafen in abt 3 minutes. Drew 4 fouls on LSU in 10 minutes. And only played 10 minutes. Only played 14 minutes in the semi and I think they ran one clear out for her.
I wdnt be surprised if part of the exit is Close blaming the loss on “effort” and/or dissatisfaction with our no movement, throw it in, throw it out offense.

I like Close and her values. I think she’s thrown her players under the bus, and is too simplistic with her offense. She uses analytics. Betts has the highest shooting % so always give the ball to Betts. But it’s not algebra, it’s calculus. If you keep doing one thing over and over, other things are going to suffer, as will the net result.
Will be interesting to see who we bring in and if CCC retools the O.
I’ll bet that Janiah is a monster next season. Jones will probably go somewhere somewhere that actually runs plays for her next season and her shooting will be less streaky, at a higher percentage.
