South Carolina has lost thee ages in the last couple years - to Texas, to UConn and to UCLA - on our home court. I think the realities of playing against Lauren Betts create some shock in opponents who haven't done it before. South Carolina has done it before - this team, this year. Like us against SC in the Big Ten Tournament or against LSU the other night, they will come in to a game against us (or UConn) with a big chip on their shoulder AND having already faced Lauren on the court. I would much rather we played Texas should we get past UConn.
You see the stats and you see the film, but until you've experienced that size and that level of mobility yourself, close up and personal, it doesn't fully hit you.
I've had two experiences where size really hit me. Once I was walking down a smallish hallway where I worked in Hollywood and Wilt Chamberlain came walking toward me and we had to pass one another in that narrow hallway and slender and athletic as he was, Wilt FILLED that hallway. It was an oh yeah moment.
Other time I was staying at a hotel in Denver, had breakfast and was going up to my room before meetings. Got onto an elevator that had four guys in it. I stood just a fraction under six feet tall and found myself looking at the logos on the chests of their polo shirts - Dallas Cowboys. Four Cowboys linemen on the same elevator with me in the middle. That was another recognition of actual size moment.
The first time a woman takes the ball into the paint and runs smack dab into Lauren Betts is a shock. Has to be.
Hook 'em horns (although I don't expect you to win this one)
