Wasn't NIL made illegal for schools or organizations to block because it violated player's individual civil(?) rights? If that's so, wouldn't capping NIL be illegal too? On another sports board I frequent they've discussed that caps could be made legal if there were player's unions to negotiate for them. I assume, then, that a player's union would have to come first, then, negotiations with some schools representing organizational body. NCAA? Conference bodies?
I would think the same logic would reply to other contracts like binding-to-one-team for a certain period things.
Pretty complex new system that's called for. Luckily, it's not at all unprecedented except in college sports.
