The official nickname of the UCLA women's basketball team is just the "Bruins", not "Lady Bruins" and they shouldn't be called that. However, the official nickname of the LSU women is the "Lady Tigers". Some schools use "Lady" to differentiate the men's and women's teams, mainly the HBCU schools.
Schools have been dropping the "Lady" in recent years as Baylor did a few years ago.
