Betts on the bench with two early fouls; Bruins not moving and moving the ball enough - LSU is getting into rhythm and has the advantage at this point (and likely through Q2 as well). Not the best opening or the one we'd hoped for.
UCLA 9. LSU 13.
After five minutes we trailed in RBs 13-6, had missed all three of our FT attempts - team a bit overcooked and tight. Movement - ball and players - a key. But most important they are swarming Betts and if she swings around she's going to foul out. LSU also makes it really hard to feed Betts in scoring position. (And pulling her out to jump shooting distance greatly reduces her threat.)
Shooting 26.7% yo LSU's 30% - big, important game and both teams really tight. We started off 7-2 but LSU has gotten its rhythm and is playing really well. RBS LSU 18-10
As Mulkey said, the measure of this game is toughness - who will prove the tougher team in the end?
Betts - 6 points, 2 blocks, 2 fouls
Jaquez - 3, Barker 2
Key is going to be feeding Betts because LSU is going to make that very difficult. Also rebounding - LSU doing a terrific job on their defensive boards and we've done pretty well on ours to this point. MOVE the ball and feed Lauren Betts (and can't leave them loose to shoot either)
