I tend to look at things in terms of their potential.

Maybe that's just the coach in me. For instance I look at Dylan Andrews as potentially the best Bruin on this year's squad. I see what he has done and look through that prism to the point of if and when he can do that every game. Well, he isn't there yet and may never get there. But if he does, IMO, Cronin couldn't bring in any other guard who would be more effective. The reality right now is that Cronin needs a more effective point guard. To my way of thinking it is up to Andrews to get there and maybe Cronin as well to coach him up to that level. The potential there is great.

I see Dailey like this as well. I see him play some outstanding games - at least offensively. I see him on the cusp of being an effective three instead of just an effective but undersized four, but like Andrews he's just not there yet. He may never be. I see reaching one's potential in terms of will and desire being the only impediments once it is demonstrated that an individual is capable of doing the job. Maybe that's unfair and maybe it clouds the reality of the moment? Maybe Andrews and Dailey are now all that they can be. Maybe that's true for Mara as well, but for him I don't think so. So, if it's not true for Mara I'm also unwilling to believe it's true for Andrews and Dailey.
