I know media members who consider him an analytical joke, setting aside his success in playing his role as a carnival barker.
They've told me time and again that he's actually shy in public, unable to make or keep eye contact if it risks him breaking character. Sort of a poor man's Daniel Day Lewis or Greta Garbo "vaunting" to be alone.
I experienced it myself a few months ago when I was a few people behind him in boarding a flight from L.A. to Gotham City. No one was violating his space becuz most didn't know who he was. Yet, again, he would shoot a glare at people passing by him and then immediately turn away whenever anyone was in his space........which is impossible to avoid on a boarding plane. I totally avoided him becuz there was nothing I had any kind of an interest in discussing with him.
