watching our two teams - men's and women's - start their first ever Big Ten Conference schedules and a couple things I find very interesting.
We started our experience playing a Big Ten conference schedule for the men by winning our first two games. They were against traditional Big Ten powers Washington and Oregon. (Wait, what?) We were 2-0 in the Big Ten. The last two games - against two teams that really are traditional BqG teams - says maybe the first two didn't give the players or us anything like a real B1G experience.
The women have a truly dominant roster and have played some really good opponents. But - also interestingly - we're opening Big Ten play with three of the very bottom dwellers in the conference. The difficult of the conference schedule, especially on the road, is yet to come. I hope the players understand this and are far better prepared for it than our men have been to this point.
Fun and games are over. Time to buckle down and play a lot better. (and perhaps quieter, too, Coach....)
