Two thoughts:

1. With NIL I do think coaches can call out players to a certain extent today that one couldn’t in years past. The dynamic is different. If a player doesn’t like his coaches demeanor and way he’s treated he now has a remedy— portal. There will be certain coaches who act more like Bobby Knight and others like Aaron Boone. I don’t think it’s one size fits all, but the current zeitgeist is certainly leaning to the later.

2. These things are typically way overblown. So few people pay attention to post game pressers and the like they are irrelevant except to the most ardent fans — like you! We are a very, very small minority. OTOH, I’m listening to local sports radio in NYC on the train to work this am and they played a portion of the press conference and the hosts were laughing at Cronin. So if you make a big enough ass out of oneself that small minority that typically catches wind of post game pressers conferences you will be called out. I think this is the second. I think this press conference and Foster’s Bog 10 press conference are the only times I’ve heard ucla referenced on sports talk this year.
