You see misremembering the hiring process. We wanted both Barnes and Dixon, but we didn’t have the $$ (or desire to pay the $$) to pay the buyouts that were contractually obligated. We claimed poverty.
That is no longer the case. We will be doubling (at least) or revenue due to the big 10 draws. Money should no longer be a significant limitation. Cronin is also paid a lot of $$. Pretty sure he’s top 15 in salary north of 4mm/.
DG really fcuked up by not picking Nate Oats or Mussleman (or Barnes, I was never a huge Dixon fan although superior tour current coach) last time.
There are a slew of superior options. Find any coach that runs a competent offense and you are likely to have a superior coach and product. If you were a top end college player would you want to play in UCLAs system? The elephant in the room is Martin Jarmond. Not sure I’d allow him to pick my coffee vendor.
