B1G road teams on long road trips have 2 days between 2 games.... In the Pac-12 in the past, they only scheduled 1 day off between 2 road games to minimize the traveling cost and also players can minimize their lost class time.
Plus, road teams usually leave for the trip 2 days prior to the first game of the trip, so having 2 days between games makes it really a 5-day trip. I am not really sure how having 2 days between games really benefits the student athletes being away from school for so long.
As an example, Michigan arrived in LA on 1/1 for two games on 1/4 and 1/7. So they left Ann Arbor 3 days prior to the first game of the west coast swing. Assuming they will take a red-eye back to Ann Arbor after the game at Pauley, they would be away from school for nearly a week. I understand Michigan is on a winter break, but UCLA will have the same 2-day gap between two games at Maryland and Rutgers during the next trip. So I am not really sure the reasoning of such scheduling model by B1G.
