… refs might be determinant in the outcome of a game, because it eats into their believe that players always decide. Were that not true in their minds, it could ruin the game for them.
I saw the Indiana game, and there might have been a couple of blown calls down the stretch, but no way a game so fully dominated by UCLA was decided by refs.
On the other hand, in the UNC game, there were 3 to 4 obviously awful calls that went against us down the stretch, and probably amounted to 10 points for UNC due to those calls. In a very close game and a huge comeback, that was definitely a factor. I’m not suggesting that there was one-sided intent. I’m suggesting that the key calls down the stretch cost us the game, and was a horrible job by the refs.
This is possible, but some can’t get themselves to believe it. BTW, the Nebraska game was well called, and was not a factor.
