But consider that are assists are up this year (even with DA being a no show so far) to 16.4 per game. Compare last year at 11.3, 22/23 at 14.5, 21/22 at 13.9 and 20/21 at 13.7. So the vanilla O is well below the top teams at 17-19 a game. Mick’s last three years at Cincy they averaged close to 16 assists a game. I guess the question for me is a chicken and the egg issue. Is it the O, the players, the coach, or all of the above. Any way you cut it, CMC is responsible either for running a poor vanilla O or not recruiting a PG who can get the job done. I can’t help but wonder how Zo would have done under CMC. Ok, I guess I would land on the non-existent O but still scream at the TV when I see DA walking the ball up court to shorten the game or watch as none of our guards can get a quick entry pass to T-Bil or Mara … it is all just to slow for my taste…I love the D but we need some top notch guards to be competitive at the highest level. While I am prepared to watch every game turn into a rock fight and hope we pull them out at the end…I find it a bit stressful rather than joyful. Long way of saying that we agree on the O, even though I am pulling for CMC to go deep every year. I just hope I don’t toss my beer at the TV too often in frustration…and while I am a CMC fan, I agree he needs help with both recruiting pg’s and implement a more entertaining and productive O….still hope it is this year.
