We are currently a tier 2 team. From what I’ve seen teams like Auburn, Tennessee, Florida and Duke are a step ahead of us. There’s a bunch of other teams at that second tier along with us , all capable of getting to that upper tier. I don’t see a team in the B1G that is particularly scary tho many are just as capable of winning the conference as we are.
As I’ve been saying for some time, in order to be a national championship contender we need help inside, and a better flow to the offense. I think Mara is capable of proving what we need inside, that being a shot blocker and additional rebounding. The other part is tougher. My hopes early on were that Perry would get more time. I see him as the only one capable of getting others easy shots. I no longer think that’s coming this year. Instead I’ll take a return to last year’s form from Dylan and hope his midrange jumper, along with improved jump shooting from Lazar, Bazz, and the new guys can be enough.
First things first, let’s finish top 3 in conference. I think that’s very doable even with little improvement.
