and I didn't notice the incident you're pointing out. But I have said for a while the behavior on the sideline is beneath him. He's a good coach. There's a way to be a hard ass. From what I hear Coach Wooden was a hard ass (I mean, you had to put your socks and shoes on a certain way?) There's a list of successful coaches that were/are hardasses. It seems to me that Cronin can manage it because there have to be times, off-camera when he embraces his kids. Has to. From everything we've heard they love him. Trust me they wouldn't work so hard for him if he didn't. He's able to balance it.
Having said that, for the most part, he's winning. If he starts to lose, the wolves will come out. You'll see. Howland was a great coach and a hardass until he wasn't. Then he was someone who couldn't connect with kids. Kids don't want to play for him. He ruined his relationships with HS coaches. When you lose, things snowball. When you win, we overlook things. Win big...well then we really overlook things, think Pitino in a restaurant booth.
