I'm sure most crashes are due to bad decisions, flying in bad weather probably the biggest. It reminds me when I flew with two colleagues on business to Santa Barbara. Coastal clouds. My heart was really beating when the pilots told me to keep an eye out for tall buildings as we came down out of the clouds.
I did get to take the controls one time, that was fun.
That's interesting on the motorcycle comparison. After I had a family, my motorcycle was sold. Too dangerous as I had had some close calls- one while commuting to UCLA on Coldwater Canyon.
