Bona made the correct decision. This draft class is very bad, next years is going to be very strong. Bona was not going to develop under Cronin. Cronin’s scheme doesn’t develop offense. moreover there is an inverse correlation between staying in school and being drafted in better positions. Thr teams drafting early are all looking for high upside young guys who can become superstars. The end of the first and alll thru the second is where the older players are being drafted. Most of the second round guys have already been contacted and worked out contracts that are greater than anything ucla is gonna pay. Maybe most importantly, you want that clock running to get to the second contract, so staying in school just delays the pot of gold.
