who speaks the truth, guarded when necessary, doesn't sugar coat things, and is what I call a human being. There's no affectation, no questionable slickness like there is in many high profile coaches, and a nice sense of humor. I can see recruits gravitating toward that kind of coach and sincere parents with no agenda other than what's best for their kids really being comfortable and liking Cronin.
If indeed he is able to do what he wants to do with his current deep team he might be able to cast away his reputation as being a defense mostly, offensively stagnated coach - something I never bought into entirely. If, like he said, this team plays a pressing, running, and high pressure game I can see him being able to get into the conversation for the blue blood highly rated recruits. With that and his genuine persona I think he can start to seriously contend with Coach Cal, Coach Self, and the other top recruiters in the land for the elites of the elite. If that happens and coupled with his coaching chops, UCLA, could indeed rise to the level of its past glories.
I like Coach Mick a lot.
