In Walton's first varsity game as a soph in Pauley, he scored 19 points with 14 rebounds. (Henry Bibby was the high scorer with 26.) But that wasn't his first Pauley game.
In his first regular season freshman team game he scored only 9 points with 12 rebounds and 7 blocks. (Greg Lee had 25 and Keith Wilkes 20 so they didn't need him to score.) But that wasn't his first Pauley game.
Walton's first game in Pauley was the annual Varsity vs Freshman game. He left the game midway through the first half with a stomach ache and didn't return, scoring . . . 2 points!
