In the age of NIL where every competitor plugs in talent, he had to adjust in my opinion. UCONN doesn't win without plugging in 2 of their top contributors via transfer portal last year. That is 40% Hurley had to incorporate and he did. What he did last year clearly didn't work in this environment. They may end up solid players in another 2 years, but the players he replaced them with are there today with high floor and higher ceiling than every one that transferred out. Bona the exception but that is different it is the NBA.
I'll roll with the higher talented players, like Wooden stated he wanted, any day.
